I hate the treadmill!

So I'm exercising again, No its not a new years resolution ( I don't believe in those) Its the fact that my jeans are getting to tight, you see its been so cold for so long that I have kinda given up going outside unless its absolutely necessary, Which means no exercise, I haven't taken Odin for a walk for weeks. So I'm back on the treadmill, I hate the treadmill, its so boring, there is not enough music, or TV or anything to keep my mind occupied while I am on it, I watch the clock, Twenty five minutes seems like hours. (if only I could figure out how to play on the Internet and walk at the same time)
We may get to above freezing during the day by next week,

Now I have to tell you about my cell phone mishap!
On Sunday morning we cleaned our house, this included a bucket half full of water and a mop ( you know where this is going don't you) So as we were finishing up I had to run to the store, I put on my boots, grabbed my purse, coat, gloves, and headed for the door on my way out I bumped the mop handle and knocked it down. I bent over to pick it up and apparently my cell phone slid out of my purse into the bucket, Now you would think that I would of heard it, seen it something right, nope didn't have a clue. My daughter found it 20 minutes later when she emptied the bucket. (if it ever works again at least its very clean and smells like Mr Clean)
I bought me a new one yesterday, I didn't even bother to try putting the battery back in ( my daughter had the good sense to take it out) I figured after 20 minutes submerged its toast. I did pick it up of the counter today to move it and water still dripped out. Not a good sign.
I wonder if I can get cell phone insurance?
Will have to look into that!

24 hours

We hit 18 degree's today! It was like a damn heat wave, thought about breaking out the sunblock and laying out, ( wonder were my swimsuit is?) not really but it only got down to -4 last night and with the warm up the roads are getting better everyday. We didn't have anyone slide off into the driveway, at least not while I was home, and I didn't have to lock it in 4-wheel drive to get in or out.

We have also had water for over 24 hours!!!!
There will be no living with us now, how will the neighbors ever keep up I wonder!

My husband got his new glasses and contacts yesterday, and boy have they made a difference. We bought a new HD TV a couple of weekends ago and I have been complaining that the picture on it just didn't look right, and he couldn't see it. When we brought it home he hooked it up using the same cables we had for the old TV. We bought the new cables he just hadn't installed them. (its a major job to pull out all of the components in order to switch all of the wires over) and he thought the picture was fine. So last night new glasses in hand (or I should say on face) he sat down to watch the tv and guess what? tonight he comes home and pulls all of the components out and replaces the wires then calls dish TV and orders a new HD receiver. he could finally see that the picture just didn't look right
I guess I better clean the cobwebs down from the corners now that he can see them.

Were flushing once more!

As of about 4:00pm yesterday we once again have water!
You don't realize how much you need water till you don't have it! Just making a pot of coffee becomes a major ordeal, not to mention all of the other things you do with water, flushing for instance. We were unable to get the main line defrosted so to speak so we are now living with 325 feet of garden hose and water we have to leave running all of the time to keep it from freezing, not to worry the city assures us that we won't be charged for the extra water usage as it was there meter that froze in the first place that got us here.
I took a very long, very hot bath last night that I have to say was incredible ( OK that's just the 4 days with out water talking) but it was really nice not to have to haul, or heat just to wash up.
I'm thinking I'm going to have to throw out the ice cubes in the ice maker as they smell like garden hose, and even with the filter on the drinking water, it tends to be a little nasty tasting, but other than that all is well, we are all washed, dressed in clean cloths and able to make coffee in the morning, and flush the toilet,
what more can you ask for?

the cold has become personal

So its been a few days since I could get to the puter as my life has been taken back to an earlier century. with the terrible cold we have a frozen water line somewhere between our house and the road which is about 300 feet or so. So I have been hauling water while we are trying to resolve the situation ( hopefully that happens before spring). I like running water, I especially like it to be hot when it comes out of the faucet. I don't like hauling it in buckets, nor do I like having to heat it to do dishes, wash my face, hauling it to flush the toilet just really stinks (hahaha hopefully not literally) anyways tomorrow we bring in the backhoe and start digging, hopefully I can gets some pics for everybody and hopefully by tomorrow night I will have running water again!
Oh and if anybody out there has any warm weather to spare PLEASE send me some

Still so cold

Its still so cold here, I had to put gas in my car yesterday, and I really didn't want to. That by itself is reason enough to move to Oregon (they pump your gas for you there). Right now its -17 according to Yahoo. I don't want to leave the house, and when I do I absolutely try do do everything I need to so that I don't have to go back out. My poor little Boston Bull Dog barely gets off the deck to go pee. Odin on the other hand doesn't seem to mind at all, he stays out for hours, when he comes in his whiskers are coated and his nose is so cold. I think he just comes in to check on us then back out he goes again.
well that's the big news from here, supposed to warm up by the weekend ( to 20 degree's) if you can believe it. maybe if it warms up will be able to think clearly and right about something else!

Its soooooooooo cold

After the snow stopped on Saturday the temperature has just gone down, night before last it was minus 33 and last night minus 36. My car is dead or at least frozen in suspended animation till we can get it to the shop and get it warmed up. The phone started ringing yesterday morning about 7:30 am with people who's trucks were froze up, and again this morning about 6:30am. It seems the only one who's not complaining is Odin, he likes the snow and the cold and he'd chase cats no matter what the weather.

Today it warmed up to 0 degree's, (woohoo right) as we were leaving the shop about 4:30 in the five miles to the house the temp had dropped to minus 2.

There's not enough clothing that you can put on when its this cold, and if you do get enough on, you can't move. that reminds me of the kid in a Christmas story.

Its suppose to warm up to just 0 overnight by the weekend, it will be a heat wave and maybe my car will come out of hibernation.

Its a snow day

Odin digging his bones out of the snow
(these aren't very clear, they were taken through the glass and it was snowing)

Today was a snow day!
No they didn't cancel school (thank god) and no they didn't shut down all government business. I just called in sick. Due to snow. By the time I ventured out of the house I was really glad I had, the roads sucked, What I want to know is what the hell the snowplow drivers are doing just driving around? They aren't plowing snow, nor are they sanding the roads, there just driving around. Maybe there afraid they will run out of roads to clean and have to go home early or something.
Its still snowing, we have had about 7 inches so far and we are expecting 3 to 5 more tonight.
I did make it to the grocery store and stocked up on a few groceries just in case it never stops and we are snowed in, haha (that should only happen during the week so we can't go to work)
I hope it keeps snowing for days and days and days, will give me every reason to sit around in my jammies and paint or something!

A not fun weekend!

this one is blurry will se if I can replace it soon with one that isn't.
So we spent our weekend cleaning!

I think I'm having a serious case of cabin fever as my house is driving me crazy ( well that and the fact that we haven't really cleaned it since the 23rd of Dec ) So we spent all one day vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, washing mounds of laundry, scrubbing toilets, that sort of thing.

Now all of you who know me, know that I hate to clean. I love a clean house so I make myself do it ( I keep teasing my husband that he can have a second wife only if she likes to stay home and clean) but I can think of many things I'd rather do.

Odin was very happy, as when we moved the couch there were like 12 half chewed chew bones that he had been unable to retrieve, not to mention a few candy wrappers, some pony tail holders, the cats tinkle bell, and some things I'm not even sure what they were.

we hauled a truck bed full of garbage away, much of it x-mas boxes and wrappings but also just junk,

We have only lived in this house for a little over 2 years and we have filled it clear up. It amazes me how much stuff we have, every time you open the closet or cupboards things fall out, Now I am sure we don't need all of this stuff. I am not even sure why we kept some of it in the first place. I do have a tendency to keep everything, but I had been working on it and thought I had gotten a lot better. Apparently not!

I mean really how many TVs does one family need. apparently we need one for every room and a couple of back ups just in case ( this does include one electric and one 12 volt for the camp trailer).

Odin hates it when we clean, He hates you to pick up his toys and put them in his toy box, and if it is down where he can reach it he will take them right back out and replace them all over the house. He also is scared to death of the vacuum, My little Boston bull loves the vacuum and every chance he gets will have you vacuum him. Odin on the other hand wants to hide under the bed but is no longer able as he has gotten to big!

Sophie (the ferret) loves it when we clean and move things around as I suppose she thinks it a whole new house for her. ferret love change and new things and thrive on things just being in different places.

So that was my sucky weekend the only bright spot was today when I came home to a clean house it was wonderful.

I should of!

I should of bought stock in walmart!
I spend so much money in walmart that it would at least in some way pay me back for the money I spend there. (hopefully)
I mean really we were out of everything!
Its pretty sad when all bathrooms in the house are out of toilet paper, you can't even rob from another one for the one your going too, (the camper was out too)
I couldn't run the dishwasher cause there was no soap, and we all know what happens when you put regular soap in the dishwasher.
we had no razors, and anybody who watched Oprah yesterday knows that your not supposed to keep using the same razor over and over again, unless of course you only shave once every say two months then you might be OK for awhile.
We were reduced to using the little bottles of shampoo you get from the hotels, cause all the big bottles were empty (thank god I collect them every time we stay in one and throw them in a drawer)
paper towels-gone
cat food, the cats have been eating dog food thank goodness they don't seem to mind and when the dogs go out and eat it all I don't feel so bad,
had to steel the garbage bags out of the camp trailer, now these aren't the big bags they are the tall kitchen bags, which means in our house you have to empty the garbage like every 4 hours. ( I'm not sure how it is that we have so much garbage, will have to look into that)
Now for all of you going why doesn't she just go to the store, the closest Walmart is 35 miles away. The local grocery stores carry all the Items we needed but at such a high price that even with buying the gas to go to Walmart its still much cheaper to drive than to go local. ( even in dire need, like toilet paper)
Now I know that Christmas is important and I know that I was so busy, but this busy is just wrong, next year will have to stock up on the basics in November so come January we don't have to fight over the toilet paper!

Oh and Odin has been so happy we had new snow yesterday and last night so this morning he was a happy puppy!

Odin, what about him

Oh yea, Odin had a busy new years day while on his daily run he ran into some deer, now if you will remember a couple of weeks ago he came back with a huge gash in his leg and had to have stitches on a Sunday. so while out on his daily run he flushed up 2 deer, and we had a hell of a time getting him back to us, when we did he had blood down the his back, thinking that he had run through the bob wire fence we brought him back to the house. Upon taking a rag and cleaning him up we find that the blood is not his own, we are still not sure at this time where it came from. but for now Odin is on the leash or sled only, or I might try the treadmill once again, anyways he's now on daily walks on the leash, sad for him but much better for us!

playin? or am I

So I got my 16 yr old daughter a laptop for x-mas, she's a good student and a pretty good kid, so why not right? I hear parents laughing all over the world! I bought her a wireless card to go with her new laptop in which she opened x-mas morning, yes the 25th, so yesterday she's complaining that she can't connect to the Internet. So of course I tell her what to do, she tries what I tell her and still can't get on the Internet. so by now she's very frustrated and for some reason its my fault. I take over her computer and can't get much to work, she doesn't have an antivirus as she received it on the 25th we left on the 26th and got back on the 31st , I just haven't had time, So last night I spent 4 hours trying to load a antivirus program to her computer, on first scan she had 96 infections. You tell me how with less than say 10 hours total time on the puter, this child has 96 infections? well anyways wiped everything thing out reloaded all pertinent programs, including a antivirus, ad ware, malware program,( I like system mechanics pro edition) but I still couldn't connect to the Internet, tried to remove and reinstall her wireless card twice last night but I had had all of the computer I could take. So I left it till tonight, it connected right of the bat and I downloaded all new virus definitions right now it has scanned 49% and had 33 trojan horses! I'm completely astounded, I always new there was, a reason I didn't let my children on my computer .
So with this problem solved then it was my turn to do what I call playing on the Internet, This consist of going to regular pages that I always visit, then linking into new pages where I have never been before. Tonight I ran into the 3 min video of Saddam Hussein's hanging done on what they think is some body's cell phone, When I first ran onto it I didn't have any compulsion to watch it, then I thought what the hell, but when they put the noose around his neck I clicked off I didn't want to see it, I don't think I have thought about how I feel about his hanging, Not that I don't think that they were carrying out the sentence he was given, but am just not sure I want to personally view it. Just like I wouldn't want to go to a execution of a serial murderer. while my mind can understand why it has to be done, doesn't mean I want to watch it. That has led me back to here I hadn't planned on blogging tonight but this was on my mind and decided to share it
